What FedEx One Rate Covers and What It Does Not
FedEx One Rate is a flat-rate option. FedEx's page, checked in October 2026, lists these terms:
- Services. FedEx expedited U.S. domestic package services only. International shipping is excluded.
- Price. A fixed price based on packaging size, destination and delivery speed.
- Weight limits. Envelopes under 10 lbs, and boxes, paks and tubes under 50 lbs. Heavier packages ship at standard dimensional-weight and zone rates.
- Declared value. Up to $100 is included at no extra cost, and a higher value can be declared for an additional charge.
- Extras. Saturday Delivery and Delivery Signature Options cost extra, and packing materials are not included.
- Account discounts. FedEx says additional account discounts do not apply to One Rate pricing.
That last point matters. One Rate and account discounts are alternatives, so compare them for your own parcels instead of assuming one is better.
Free FedEx Account and Volume-Based Pricing
FedEx's small business pages, checked in October 2026, say that opening a free business account gives access to discounted rates on eligible shipments, with no high-volume minimum. The same pages say some FedEx discounts are based on shipping volume. FedEx publishes no discount percentages for its own services there.
That is where a volume-based quote comes in. Unival's FedEx pricing is built around long-term shipping volume. We do not publish a fixed discount, because savings depend on your parcels, destinations, services and volume. Request a quote to see the rate for your own orders, then compare it with the options above.
What Else Changes Your Small Business Shipping Cost
The rate is only one line on your invoice. FedEx's published information, checked in October 2026, shows the rest:
- Billable weight. FedEx charges on dimensional weight or actual weight, whichever is greater, using a divisor of 139. Our guide explains dimensional weight.
- Delivery zone. Zones are set by the origin and destination ZIP codes.
- Extra charges. FedEx lists fees such as Additional Handling, Delivery Area Surcharge, Residential Delivery Charge and Address Correction.
- Peak season. FedEx publishes per-package demand surcharges, with the main service surcharges running from October 26, 2026 to January 17, 2027. See our bulk shipping discounts page for the amounts.
- Annual changes. FedEx says standard list rates will rise an average of 5.9% on January 4, 2027.
Questions to Ask Before You Choose a Rate
Use the same questions with every provider, including us:
- Does this rate apply to the service level and parcel size I actually ship?
- Do account discounts or volume pricing apply to base rates, surcharges or both?
- Is there a minimum volume, and what happens if my volume changes?
- Which extra charges, such as residential delivery or peak-season surcharges, are not included?
- How do labels and tracking connect to my store?
- How does the price change when FedEx updates its rates each year?
